Double thick bottom wires will resist corrosion, I suspect forever. Replaces cast iron plate with holes which can clog with charcoal. Captures all the lump charcoal in one easy to shake out ash basket. It does weigh a lot [which means heavy duty wire].

Built like a tank

The Kamado Joe Charcoal Basket is AMAZING!!! I wanted to cook just 2 ripeness for the wife and I. Normally I load up the charcoal and wait.......then grill (you do need patience with charcoal). This basket worked like a charcoal chimney! My coals were ready in just a few minutes due to the increased air flow. The bonus was i used the divider with only a small amount of charcoal and was able to zone cook quickly. Love this, probably the best accessory (less the joetisserie).
