Heavy Duty Awesomeness

First, let's get the negative out of the way and than ramble on about the awesomeness of this woodstove.Con: as listed in other reviews, the blue protective film stinks. Takes forever to get it off and than there will still be pieces that you just can't get to, until you fire this thing up.Pro's1. Heavy duty. This weighs, I think about 2 pounds. For the gram counters, this would probably not make the cut into their backpacks. However, for a weekend or 3 day hike, why not.2. Burns efficiently. I chose this model because of the stainless steel lockable flap on the front of the stove. This allows me to place larger pieces of wood into the stove. Also, if coals happen to come out they find themselves onto that piece of stainless.3. This stove comes in a well made canvas bag. Which was nice to see and have. I know that this can as bag can take a licking n keep on tickin.4. Which should be1. Set up of this stove, literally takes seconds. The sides open up, the stainless steel grate falls to keep the stove open, slide the ash tray under and done deal.5. This things burns with great efficiency. Once a meal is done and the wood allowed to burn, it will burn into a very small pile of ash. Maybe just enough to fill the palm of your hand.6. This stove uses fuel that can be found anywhere in the woods. The fuel source is unlimited. However, if rain happens to hinder the trip, I can't see why an alcohol stove would work great in this. Place the alcohol stove on the wood grate, ignite, close front door of stove, place your cup or pot inside and let it go. Basically the wood stove acts as a wind barrier to the alcohol stove/burner.7. This is ideal for car camping and not wanting to use fossil fuels or trying to cook on busted up concrete fireplaces, known to be apart of state campsites.8. I prepared cutting wood into 6" pieces about 1" to 1.5" inches in diameter to start. I like using hornbeam or aka ironwood. But this burns so efficiently that you would need to replace wood all the time. This is not a set it and forget it stove. Once you have a good fire going graduate up to larger pieces of wood 6" in length and maybe 2" to 3" in diameter. Why?Well I found that smaller pieces burn faster in this stove and the heat generated is great, in reading the potential to burn food. However, once a good fire is started a couple larger pieces maintains a lower flame but will not burn your food. This stove again is very efficient and the heat stays locked in and upward.9. It is larger than the round twig stoves which means your cup, boiler, or pot is more stable. I liked that very much and is a huge plus in my book.10. Cost, this thing is affordable and of great quality and is sturdy. Remember this thing folds up and is also meant to have a little give based on what your grounding may be.All in all this is a 5 all day long. Buy this stove for at home outings, car camping, and minimal 3 day hikes. This stove would definitely make quick work of a roasted marshmellow for the kids or grandkids. Great stove, great price, great quality.

Time to prep is hours

Well, after about 2 hours of attempting to get all the blue protective sheeting off I finally was able to give this a test. This stove works but it needs a little work and at least one mod. 3 stars due to the blue stuff takes a long time to remove and you still cannot get it all completely off. Allow the first 2 or 3 burns to get all the blue residue to burn off. Next is a mod to place perf metal over the fire grate so that I can use wood pellets also. Overall after this it's not too bad.

Big enough for an iron skillet yet easy pack and go!

Will be great for cooking during power outages, camping, or just for fun! I love having different cooking methods. Eating is a necessity!

Received with scratches. What’s the point of blue tape

Looks like I received a return and someone tried to peel the blue tape and gave up. scratches in several places and latch show corrosion. What’s the purpose of the plastic if I’m going to get a scratched up product.

Very happy it is worth it

Worked really well. I used a small cast iron skillet on it using charcoal and woodchips an cooked veggie tofu stir fry. It cleans easly but would suggest some foil on it. The foil will help with heat but also to protect it from wear and tear. Not sure how long it will last but you will definitely get your money's worth out of its. The blue plastic to remove takes time I don't see the point in but i am happy with this its great for my hiking and would be with power outages

What's with all the blue liner?!

I gave it 3 stars bc it comes completely covered in this blue plastic liner on every single inch of this thing, front and back, and it's not easy to get off! Ugh!

The blue stuff!

A great item at a good price. But. Leave yourself 20 minutes to get all the blue stuff off the steel. The case is a nice touch. Planning on using this as a plan B with some charcoal in case the LP freezes up.

Nice camp stove.

This stove would be too heavy for a backpacking stove. I bought it as a larger version to the stove that I have.
