Jack Benny: Drawing a Blanc Audio CD – March 12, 2012

First of all I was glad The Christmas ones were not part of the collection... Since I have those twice.(however if you have never heard the episode where Jack is doing his Christmas shopping and Mel is behind the counter Its one of the best) My Criticism of these episodes are that in some of them Mel Blanc had a very small part; One of them I can only guess who he was.... To me this was just an excuse to sell more Jack Benny..... Missing was one episode where Mel keeps running into Jack asking can you use me on your show and jack says no and Mel goes into his Jolson Impression Its very funnyBut Professor Lablanc is still good and the train station is always good and one holiday episode where jack spends the whole show introducing his cast does spend good time with mel Blanc I love him starting up the maxwellI guess if you come away from this collection It proves Jack didn't use Mel Blanc enough if these are examples of their salute to Mel Blancand another complaint is the packaging they have the Cds stacks one on top of the other in a sort of Holding area I don't like the cds touching each other They could afford the envelopes at least

Utterly wonderful. Mel Blanc was a genius and the Jack Benny radio program was the peak of radio comedy -- far better than his TV shows. The best way to describe it is that the Jack Benny Show had humor carefully thought out with "callbacks' and various kinds of comedy techniques and humor VERY similar to the humor in the Warner Brothers cartoons. So it was quite fitting that Jack Benny worked closely with Mel Blanc. I listened to this set on a long drive and was laughing out loud. Blanc was an absolute comedy genius and if you go to You Tube you can see how he was equally great when seen by the camera. If you like cartoons and timeless comedy, this one is for you.

Bought this for my Mom as a gift but when I put them on for her to listen to I found how much I enjoyed listening to them also. The old stuff is still funny!

Who doesn't love Jack Benny? Add Mel Blanc into the mix and you get a very funny radio show. It's a great addition to the Jack Benny enthusiasts out there.
