My treasured Stanley thermos had been damaged beyond repair (which is really saying something). My wife bought me this for Christmas. I am over the moon with this thermos / french press!I've never owned a french press before, but I've owned a Stanley metal thermos, filled with coffee every day I leave for work, for decades. This is like two worlds colliding that just blows my mind!Pros:- It's a Stanley thermos. Built like a tank, keeps your coffee hot ALL day long, and I mean HOT.- You can just make your coffee in the thing and go! It's fresh coffee, made right before you walk out the door. Add your favorite coffee to the thermos, pour hot water over it, let it sit for 5 minutes, squich it down, cap it and go.- The drink spout is a very smooth pour / drink. It doesn't 'glug' like most.- Probably other stuff I'm not thinking of, but it's way better than I would have thought something like this would be.Cons:- If anything, perhaps it doesn't hold as much as my old thermos? Although it is nicer to pickup, carry around, and hold while pouring so... eh, kind of a toss up I guess.All I can say is, if you have any reservations about the whole 'french press' thing like I did before having this thing - just buy it. I would never have thought this actually worked, but it does. No leftover grounds or anything. Just great hot coffee all day, then rinse it out and make more however often you want. I can't recommend it highly enough!

I am super impressed with the quality, durability, and ease of the Stanley portable French press thermos. You can literally make coffee anywhere as long as you have access to hot water. I have a plastic personal sized French press thermos like this but that will not hold heat. This keeps your coffee scalding hot even well beyond when you make it. I leave the lid off for a bit after I make a batch of coffee so I can let it cool down. Don’t plunge the coffee down like you’re the Hulk - be mindful as you extract the coffee to avoid any floating grinds. I haven’t had issues with it and have enjoyed each cup. Your coffee strength and flavor will benefit from using a teaspoon to measure and medium to courser grounds. Don’t use fine ground or you’ll have silty results.People that will love this:Busy people on the go with limited time to wait for coffee to brew. You literally add hot water to coffee grounds in the thermos and wait a couple minutes until you lower the plunger. For early mornings this is convenient.Campers that want to reduce packing the whole house on trips. For 1-2 people you can easily make coffee in minutes. Boil some water or use a power station with a mini hot water maker - mine is thermos form as well. This is perfectly designed for camping. You can also leave the coffee in the thermos once brewed and drink from this directly. It’s not too heavy and feels sturdy enough to withstand traveling and hikes. The metal clip allows for this to be clipped to backpacks etc.I definitely think this thermos is worth its weight in gold. More folks should know how incredibly convenient and efficient this Stanley French press is. This is one of the best things I’ve bought this year.

I had a few complaints when I first got this, like it's not wide enough, the cap is cumbersome and bulky.But the more I use it I think of how I could make it better and I came to the conclusion that this thing is highly engineered.Like the latch to attach it to a backpack or whatever doubles as a open lid mount so it doesn't hit you in the face when it tilted up, it works automatically, but at first I was like "this metal mount piece keeps getting stuck in the lid cap and it seemed like a inconvenience to pull it out before closing.Another thing I didn't like was there is not flanged out lip on the cup to tumble and cool the hot liquid so it's a more tempature friendly drink, because it comes out really hot...But again, having a lid that closes on top of a screw on lid doesn't leave any options for that, not does the straight up and down design of the cup, it needs to be that way because it's a french press, and you have to make sure the cap and the lid are both on tight or it will spill out into your lunchbox, or whatever you put it in.It works well for what it is and the price is good, ideally I would use a french press at home and pour it into my Holiday 20oz Tumbler, but that is extra steps I'm not taking, plus I need to bring it with us n my layovers so We can use it at the hotel.Cleaning it is a pain, my workaround is just to pour water from the bathroom sink into cup, pull out the press and dump the contents into the toilet, repeat a couple time and rinse off, voila clean!I don't have a garbage disposal and trying to get out the grains of coffee smashed to the bottom is not fun any other way then to just rinse them out without clogging the sink drain
