Broken filter, bad fake plants, 5 stars!!!
So let me start with the bad.The thermometer is a plastic stip that doesn't work. The horrible plastic plants will hurt most fish. The filter was broken and sounded like a bunch of rocks were grinding inside it. And the light is a super basic on off.Now why you should buy this over all the other tanks. That's the tank and the price. The tank is a perfectly functional 20 gal fish tank. It has a nice lid. And I was surprised I liked the heater. All this for less than what a 20 gal fish tank without a lid would normally cost.Seriously just replace the stuff you don't like. The tank alone is worth the price. My tank has been set up for a month now. Photo attached.

GREAT TANK
The media could not be loaded. I bought this tank for my two daughters, ages 4 and 7, who were interested in getting some glo fish. Originally the plan was to go with two small tanks for each of their rooms but quickly learned this was a much more cost effective option as well as more likely to have happy fish and be visually appealing. We liked the look of the Color Fusion versus the Glo Kit because of the color changing option. We have had the tank set-up without water for a couple weeks, finally filled it up and got the filter and heater going yesterday, and have made 6 GloFish a home today. This works really well with GloFish, for those that might be wondering. After a lot of shopping for tanks, I went with this kit because the reviews were positive, the price was right for what you get, and the customer service responses were encouraging that if we had any after purchase questions and needs, they would be taken care of, and they have been. This tank comes with....- A pump and filter. It is quiet other than the water movement, which is actually quite relaxing. You need to change this monthly from what I understand. It has a low and hi setting.- A heater. It is not adjustable but seems to be holding the temp just fine for our Tropical GloFish.- A Color Fusion light. It cycles through the colors, you can press the button to halt in on a color if you wish. There is not an off button, so if you want the light off at night you will need to either unplug it or put it on a timer. So if you are counting that is 3 outlet openings that you will need and you should probably have this going to a ground fault outlet, which we did.- Comes with a few Color Fusion decorations and a really nice sea anemone decoration.-A net, a little packet of water conditioner, and a small packet of fish food.-A Thermometer - ours was missing this, but the company was really helpful in getting that resolved. What you will need to get:- You will need to get some more decorations for sure. No gravel comes in the kit. I bought a total of 34 lbs of gravel, All black for the base and then 2 - 2lbs of color glo gravel, and 2 small bags of gem rocks.- More fish food and water conditioner- A gravel vacuum- A background for the tank. I used black Cricut Vinyl.- The FISH :)April 2019 EDIT:After an estimated 9000 hours the light has quit working. We leave the light on about 12-14 hours a day and shut it off at night. I am attempting to contact company to see about a replacement. I am not finding what they state the life of the light should be, however, other companies that sell similar lights claim a guarantee for 50000 hours. I will let you all know what I find out. After finding a couple different contact emails with various responses one sent me a replacement light. We have the new one on a timer that is one 8 hours per day. We have a llevo and 5 Flo fish in the tank. And pleco like dark to get out and eat that algea so that is why the light settings

I personally love it. I had an aquarium growing up that ...
It's an aquarium. Not huge but big enough, you can put many different fish in it. I personally love it. I had an aquarium growing up that was the same size, but haven't had one in 20 years. This is a great one to get back in the game. Here are my initial impressions, and I will also leave some highly recommended upgrades to get you started. It's came securely packaged. Working for a few years in distribution, I am fine with how it was packaged and don't get the issue that some people complain about. It comes with a lot of nice little extras. Water treatment, thermometer, fishnet, fish food...every little thing you can think of to get started. If you are thinking of getting an aquarium, I would definitely start with this one. Now, bad things.Sorry, but I have to do this. It comes with an nonadjustable thermostat. It heats to about 74 -76 degree range, so this will be the very first part replaced. But it also doesn't come with an underwater filter and air diffuser of any kind. I know that the filter it comes with naturally diffuses air back into the water, but....personal preference. So here are the upgrades that I think you should add to your cart before you purchase this item.Start off by buying an undergravel, filter. This one fits perfectlyLee's 15/20 Original Undergravel Filter, 12-Inch by 24-InchYou will need tubing and an air pump for it. I went with thisAir Pump. Rated for 40 gallons...should be great for an upgradeTetra 77853 Whisper Air Pump, 40-GallonYou can never have too much tubing, so I added this alsoPENN PLAX Standard Airline Tubing Air Pump Accessories, 25-Feetand gravelGlofish Aquarium Gravel, Black with Fluorescent Highlights, 5-Pound Bag2 bag minimum...I messed up and just bought 1 bag. It didn't even cover the bottom with a thin layer. 2 would work, I think, but I went ahead and just placed an order for an extra 2 that will give me a total of 3.An Air ManifoldHang on 4 Way Air Pump Manifold Valve Taps REMOVABLE for 4/6mm tubing line tubeand some sort of background decorother than that, all you really need is a better heater. Temperature control is probably one of the most important things you can do for your fish beside feeding them. I just ordered thisEHEIM Jager Aquarium Thermostat Heater 300Wthen just add fish, and you will be really happy.

Overall, a good starter tank
Good starter kit. Heater works just fine, filter isn't the quietest but isn't bothersome. I have the tank in my home office. Tank holds water and looks good, slight damage inside the tank rim where the filter sits. The plastic rim is broken in a four inch piece but is still attached, I will fix it with silicone. Light is nice, not super bright. The provided hood clamps when fully installed, cause the lid to flare up on the front and not truly close. Overall, not bad for the price. The hood and damage are my only real gripes.

Put water in the filter!!!
All of the people complaining about the filter not working or being too loud are not priming it first!! Add water into the filter then turn it on and you won’t have any issues. Great tank!!

Parts come damaged beware
Bought two tanks one for each of my daughters. The pump/filtration system on both of these had issues. On one the metal shaft that spins inside the pump is EXTREMELY loud, I took it apart and the metal shaft was bent and completely defective. On the other tank the pump was fine and quiet u til 48 hours later it just completely quit working.
