Makes a perfect angel food cake

I was so afraid of making this cake because I've never made an angel food cake before. But now I need it gluten free and got the cake mix and an angel food cake pan (you really need one of these, people). And yes, angel food cakes take 10 to 12 egg whites, gluten free perhaps more because gf baking requires a bit more liquid. Anyhow.I make the cake and it lofted high and turned out beautifully and had that perfect cottony texture. Wasn't gritty wasn't too sweet could not have been any more perfect. I made a trifle with it and it held up just fine to the wet ingredients tho it was also wonderful on its own.I definitely plan to make it again (I bought two boxes in case I flubbed the first one) and serve it the traditional angel food cake way with strawberries and whipped cream. Perhaps I'll stock up and make some more trifle in the future.

Ripp off

This cake mix takes 12 egg whites to make. What did I pay 9.99 for anyway, a small pouch of flour. RIPP OFF of the year. And it’s no refundable of course!!! Very disappointed

Too many eggs.

The Angel food cake was moist and delicious but it called for an over abundance of eggs.

Delicious Gluten Free angel food cake mix.

There's a scarcity of GF angel food cake mixes for Celiacs. This is a good one. Excellent as strawberry shortcake.

Love this product!

This is hard to find in local stores so I feel ready to be able to bake a cake or cupcakes when the need arises. Especially since it is gluten free and I have too many sensitivities to be able to buy a gluten free cake from local bakeries. Tastes so good too! I replace the oil with an equal amount of either unsweetened apple sauce or fruit juice. I like this as cupcakes baked in parchment papers. I had bought silicone ones and it changed the taste of the cake that I did not care for. Hope this helps!

Requires too many eggs to save time over making from scratch

Before going gluten-free, I had used Betty Crocker's angel food cake mix, which requires one to only add water and mix--takes 2 to 3 minutes tops to get from mix to bake. Now that I have to maintain a gluten-free diet, I was looking for a good GF angel food cake mix, and this one is the main option. However, the other reviews are correct. This requires the baker to separate and add TWELVE egg whites, as well as two teaspoons of vanilla. The only other ingredients are "Sugar, Potato Starch, White Rice Flour, Cream of Tartar, Salt," which most gluten-free households will already have on hand.Despite the reviews, I decided to give this one a try anyway. The flavor and texture of the cake are pretty good. But I spent about 20 minutes separating the eggs and mixing it all together. The instructions even called for sifting the mix, another point against. At that rate, this mix saves little time, if any, and isn't worth the cost--especially when you add the cost of the eggs, which takes the total to around $15. That said, if you don't want to keep potato starch and white rice flour on hand, perhaps you'd still find this worth your while. But otherwise, I would recommend skipping this mix, finding a good GF angel food cake recipe, and just making it from scratch.
